Publishing since the last couple of decades of the 20th Century, and self-publishing since 2013, Dawn has chosen to independently publish, enjoying the freedom and the control it gives her over her work. As an independent author, she writes all kinds of books — novels and short stories, but some non-fiction, too. Usually, she writes her fiction under several of her numerous pen names, like E. J. Ruek, C. J. “Country” James, plus her "space fiction" under the name, Aeros. With the release of The Jessica Anderson K-9 Mysteries, she’s decided to write as herself, mostly because many of the dogs included in these crime and search-and-rescue dog novels have been personal to her life. Says Dawn: "As an author who delights in writing stories that I myself would want to read, this is the first novel and series of novels that I’ve written under my real name. For decades, I’ve cloaked my identity under pen names, even once deciding to self-publish instead of continuing the traditional publishing route. Convinced to by another author who has become a close friend and writing confidante, I decided to unveil my identity and allow readers to connect me with some of my fiction work. Writing is my passion. Though, among other things, I’m an artist and musician, writing novels is where I lose myself in The Zone, immersed for hours, even, days, into the worlds that birth themselves in my brain to emerge out my fingertips. May you enjoy the results of my creative travels as much as I." THE MUSICIAN: Conservatory trained throughout her youth on both flute and piano, Dawn 'retired' from playing flute professionally after playing with notable orchestras large and small and performing as soloist on some very famous stages in the US and Europe. Later, after years of only teaching the instrument, she again has taken the stage to play with her husband and, on select occasions, to again play classically as soloist. A student of the wonderful Professor Richard Hahn, she's written this practical guide for flutists, "Dawn's Flute Notes, Practical Advice for Flute Players from Practice Room to Stage," and, as the title suggests, it's a realistic look at the world of playing flute with advice, tips, tricks, and technical help. It's only available at Amazon, but it comes in both print and eBook formats. If you want to know more about Dawn, listen to her play flute, or see where she lives, you can find her at www.DLKeur.com and on Facebook as Dawn Keur.
